Tuesday Trend: Popular Paint Color by Valspar

Our Tuesday Trend this week comes from Valspar Paint:  Valspar Salmon Run paint color

"Pastels and pretty colors are coming to the foreground. This coral has the lightheartedness of pink, but it's more sophisticated, with chalky-gray undertones. It has a warm, soft touch that feels very embracing." —Sue Kim

Photo Favorite: Kitchen

Our Photo Favorite this week comes from a custom home we recently built in Salt Lake City, Utah.  This kitchen has great natural light coming from the many windows surrounding the kitchen.  This kitchen is adjacent to the dining area and also the living room.  It is equipped with 4 Thermador ovens and a Thermador range and fridge.  There are storage spaces for small appliances and the drawers contain organizers in them.  This is a very spacious kitchen and will be great for entertaining! TUESDAY TREND: Patterned Floors

Our TUESDAY TREND this week is patterned floors.  Playing with pattern and geometry in tile is one of the latest tile trends we are seeing a lot of.  Tiles are designed to create patterns on floors and sometimes on walls.  This is a good choice in the kitchen and bathroom because of the way tile stands up to water and steam.  Here are a few of our favorite patterns on floors we have seen in homes we built...

Square Tiles in various colors coordinate with the hardware in this bathroom.

Smaller Tiles in different colors add a pattern to these bathroom floors.

TUESDAY TREND: Benjamin Moore 2014 Color Trends

Benjamin Moore has recently released their color forecast for 2014.  They are calling these new colors, "The New Neutral Palette."   This color palette was influenced by the home furnishing industry... textiles, carpets, wallpapers, and also color schemes that emerge in landscape design, the auto industry, fashion, and graphics.  It includes 23 colors that work well together.   Here is a photo of "The New Neutral Palette" by Benjamin Moore:

Benjamin Moore forecasts a shift to pastel colors, a move away from the recent bold colors we have seen a lot of in 2013.  The shift moves us towards tints of blues, greens lavenders and pinks, colors that bring happiness into a room and feel light and airy.  To see these colors in more detail, visit:

Here are a few rooms in homes we have built using similar colors:

TUESDAY TREND: 2013 Fall/Winter Colors For The Home

Tuesday Trend.  Today we bring you the Fall/Winter 2013 color forecast in home design trends. GRAY:  Gray is the timeless classic.   Use shades of gray in combination with whites and beige and add a lot of texture so that the space doesn’t look boring.

Mud Room-309

STRIKING BLUE:  Use it in combination with white to achieve a relaxed and airy feeling.  Balance it with accessories coloured in hues from the opposite side of the color wheel – oranges, reds and even yellows.

Master Suite-311

Nature-Inspired Chestnut:  Nature-inspired colors like chestnut will add depth to interiors this autumn.  Soft, sophisticated and rustic — the color Chestnut grounds and comforts us.

GREEN:  Pantone named Emerald the Color of the Year for 2013, but we're seeing all shades of greens and expect more in the future, from bright spring greens to lots of different blue-greens and teal.
